Hi Ken
nice beacon project, seems to work well, is it operational yet? I would suggest 5Watts if possible.
I have also noticed a cw beacon on 26.965Mhz but its hard to decode due to A.M and FM signals mixed in.
I think your beacon could be very useful. what antenna would you use? Vertical Omni-derectional or horizontal dipole or yagi?
Cheers Ken

Hi Ken,

very nice project indeed. I also would suggest 3-5 Watts if possible.

Hi,

Is this beacon active yet? I would like to see if I can monitor it in Cape Town, South Africa.

What antenna is in use and what is the height of the antenna ? It would be nice if you could increase power to +/-12 watts. You can make use of a 2SC1969 which is relatively cheap Transistor with a half wave vertical antenna , then you will have a low angle of radiation in all directions. With 100mW output , you can use a 2SC2166 as a driver transistor. You can easily recover it from an old CB set. This is only a suggestion though , but I think it is an excellent idea and I thank you for your anticipation. A very reliable beacon in Cape Town is on 28.250 Mhz for propagation.
